PITTSBURGH, Pa. – November 6, 2021 – The Chatham men's hockey team faced a tough test to open the 2021-22 season, falling to Stevenson at home 3-1.
The Cougars gave up a pair of first period goals, putting them behind the eight-ball in the early going. The Mustangs added another goal in the late stages of the second period to build their lead to 3-0.
Chatham was able to finish the game on a high note after first-year
Zack Conner tallied his first collegiate goal on the power play with 4:52 to play in the game. He got a double assist from sophomore
Chris Dusek and senior captain
Michael Lamison. It was the lone power play goal of the game for either squad.
The Cougars were outshot by a narrow 30-24 margin. Senior captain
Tristan Simm led Chatham with four shots on goal. 14 different Cougars registered at least one shot on goal, while senior
Ricardo Gonzalez made 27 saves.
Chatham looks to bounce back on Friday, November 12 with another home game against Utica with a 7:30 puck drop at the Frozen Pond Arena.
