PITTSBURGH, Pa. – October 30, 2021 – The Chatham women's soccer team put together a balanced attack to blank the Geneva Golden Tornadoes in Saturday's PAC quarterfinal match, 4-0 at home. The Cougars move to 10-5-1 on the season.
After both teams took a shot apiece in the first 11 minutes, junior
Maggie Toomey gave the ball to classmate
Greta Mort for the game's ice-breaking score. The Cougars launched a bevy of shots at the Geneva goalkeeper and eventually broke through when sophomore
Malia Hinton provided some insurance with 1:44 left in the half to put the Cougars up by a pair.
The shooting onslaught continued in the second half. A corner kick sent by senior
Paxton Steffy was lobbed into the goalie box and was headed in by junior
Emily Harvey, putting the Cougars up 3-0. The final tally was scored off a ricocheted ball by junior
Kaitlyn Ritter, marking her first collegiate goal. The Cougars got a shutout performance in net by junior
Tyler Colburn, stopping several shots in the late stages of the contest to preserve the shutout.
Chatham's balanced attack featured 22 shots, 11 in each half. The Cougars outshot the Golden Tornadoes on net 17-5. Hinton had the most shots on goal and was the most accurate, going 4/4 on shots going on goal. Mort was not far behind with three shots, all three on net. Harvey and senior
