STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - October 23, 2021 - Chatham University Men's Soccer traveled to Franciscan University this evening for a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup. With a goal scored in each half, the Cougars return home with yet another shutout victory.
Until the halfway point of the first half, the game remained scoreless without either team registering a shot. Junior Leandro Nasso would sub in at the 21' mark and quickly change that, however. Twenty eight minutes into the game, Nasso would find the back of the net after receiving a pass from senior Ryan Tahbaz, later becoming the game-winning goal.
Franciscan would manage the only two other shots on goal of the half, both of which were denied by first-year keeper Trevor Rose.
Seeking an insurance goal, the Cougar offense came alive in the second half. Seniors Ken Richard and Ryan Tahbaz, junior Emmet Taub, and sophomore Spencer Houck would all land shots on net, which were unfortunately pounced on by Franciscan's Jax Mautone.
At the 80-minute mark, Chatham got their insurance. Sophomore Timmy Creamer picked a perfect time to score his first collegiate goal, converting a feed from Tahbaz to fortify the Cougar lead.
Both teams finished the game with eight shots on goal, but the Barons were not able to replicate Chatham's success thanks to Rose's efforts. With eight saves on the evening, Rose holds all four Cougar shutouts this season.
Chatham will play their final regular-season game this Wednesday, October 27th, at Thiel College. They now stand at 8-6-1 overall, 5-3 in conference on a two-game win streak.
