Cougars Travel to La Roche

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Pittsburgh, PA – The Chatham University women's volleyball team traveled to the North Hills on Friday evening to participate in the annual LA Roche College Tournament. The Cougars lost a pair of close matches against La Roche and Alfred University.

In the first match of the day, the Cougars squared off against the Red Hawks of La Roche. Sophomore outside hitter Heathir McIntyre led the offensive attack with four kills and one ace, along with eleven digs and a blocking assist. Junior libero Jessica "Hunter" Milroy also chipped in with two aces and seven digs. Multiple Cougar defenders made an impact on the match as senior Brittany DeMeno had six digs and first year players McKenna Gamble and Iman Morgan had five digs a piece. The Cougars fell to the Red Hawks in consecutive sets, 25-14, 25-13, and 25-8.  

Chatham met Alfred University for their second match of the tournament. Although the Cougars ultimately lost the match 0-3, they did show some spirited play before falling in a closely contested second set, 29-27. Chatham battled the Saxons to the brink, forcing eight lead changes and eleven ties in the second set. Senior right side hitter Brittany DeMeno paced the Cougar attack with five kills and five digs while sophomore Heathir McIntyre had 2 kills and seven digs. Jessica "Hunter" Milroy also contributed with a strong defensive performance, tallying nine digs and two aces. First year middle hitter Iman Morgan controlled the net with two solo blocks to go along with her four digs. Ava Iuliucci also pitched in with two aces.

Chatham will find out who their final opponent of the tournament will be tomorrow morning. The Cougars will compete in the third place match at noon on Saturday, September 6th.
