Pittsburgh, Pa. – (11/5/2014) – Chatham Cougar Swimming and Diving competed at home yesterday against the Presidents of Washington & Jefferson College. On a day when school records would be broken, W&J would finish on top 156-84.
Junior diver
Alexis Rectenwald qualified for NCAA Regionals in the 1M dive yesterday, Rectenwald completed the qualifying score both yesterday and last Saturday. Rectenwald finished second in the 3M, but broke the Chatham record by nearly 30 points.
First year free/back Katie Lee (Leesburg, Va.) won the 100 meter backstroke, while sophomore breast/1M
Elina Lankinen (Espoo, Finland) won the 100 meter breaststroke. Sophomore free/fly/breast
Theresa Schrider (Frederick, Md.), first year free/back
Anna Wolhaupter (Watertown, Wi.), Lee and Lankinen won the 200-meter medley relay.
Third year Head Coach Christina "Tilly" Sheets said " We continue to bring a competitive edge to our meets. I have been asking the swimmers to race and they have been racing. Katie Lee's 100-meter backstroke was a highlight of the meet for me. We are making progress each meet and fixing the little things that we have been working on in practice."
Chatham's next meet is at Carnegie Mellon University Friday November 7
th at 4:15 p.m. then Saturday November 8
th at 9:00 a.m.
