Thomas More Sinks Chatham 3-0

CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY – Thomas More College used a .460 hitting percentage to defeat Chatham University in volleyball action on Wednesday, 3-0. The Saints swept the match with scores of 25-6, 25-13, 25-6. Chatham, playing its first game of the 2012 season, falls to 0-1 (0-1 PAC). Thomas more, ranked third in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) pre-season poll, improves to 3-3 overall (1-0 PAC).

Angelina Liberi (Sr., Mt. Lebanon, PA/Mt. Lebanon) led the Cougars with five kills, while Ally Ratliff (Sr., Johnstown, PA/Ferndale Area) and Mareija Bibbs (Jr., Chesapeake, VA/Peninsula Catholic) each tallied two kills.

Julianne Speeney (Sr., Connellsville, PA/Geibel Catholic) recorded team highs with seven assists and five digs. Erin Smith (Allison Park, PA/Shaler) had two assists and three digs.

The Saints were led by Jessica Knaley, who recorded 12 kills in 16 chances. Natalie Lietz had 17 assists, three service aces, and three digs for TMC.

“Despite the outcome, we saw many positives throughout tonight's match,” said Head Coach Marc Eberle. “We know what we need to work on, and we can only get better as a unit. Thomas More is a solid program, so this was a good measuring stick to see where we are at the beginning of the season.”

Chatham will return to action Tuesday, September 11, when they host PAC foes Geneva College (4:00pm) and Washington & Jefferson College (8:00pm).
