WAYNESBURG, PA- The Chatham University Volleyball team (0-6, 0-6 PAC) lost 3-0 to both Bethany College (10-3, 3-0 PAC) and Waynesburg University (2-7, 0-4 PAC) in the tri-match at Waynesburg on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars didn't come out with a win, but walked off the court with confidence.
“We showed a lot of heart in both matches today,” said Head Coach
Marc Eberle. “Our defense has been great over the past week, and that continued this afternoon. I am very proud of how our team battles game after game.”
In the match against Bethany, the Cougars lost by scores of 25-7, 25-10, 25-13. For the Cougars,
Mareija Bibbs (Jr., Chesapeake, VA/Peninsula Catholic) recorded one ace, one block, and a team high three kills.
Angelina Liberi (Jr., Mt. Lebanon, PA/Mt. Lebanon) ended the match with two kills, one ace, six digs, and a team high two blocks.
Julianne Speeney (Sr., Connellsville, PA/Geibel Catholic) added a team high five assists while
Maria Bagnato (Jr., Pittsburgh, PA/Vincentian Academy) contributed team highs two aces and seven digs.
Against Waynesburg the Cougars fell by convincing scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-13. For the Cougars, Bibbs recorded one ace, two blocks, and a team high 11 kills. Liberi ended the match with six kills and ten digs. Speeney added a team high 13 assists and 11 digs along with Bagnato.
Erin Smith (So., Allison Park, PA/Shaler) ,
Ally Ratliff (Sr., Johnstown, PA/Ferndale Area) , and
Aminata Dieng (So., Senegal/SABS) each had team highs three blocks.
The Cougars are on the road again Tuesday, September 18 against Pitt-Greensburg. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm.
