CJ serves as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach and Adjunct Professor of Exercise Science at Chatham University, bringing more than 13 years of experience across collegiate and professional performance settings. CJ is known for an energetic, student athlete-centered approach that blends evidence based training with purposeful relationship building to help student athletes perform at a high level while developing habits that support lifelong health and success.
In this dual role, CJ leads comprehensive strength and conditioning programs while educating students in the science and application of human performance. As an adjunct professor, CJ delivers hands-on instruction in strength and conditioning principles, emphasizes critical thinking through problem-based learning, and mentors students on academic, professional, and personal development. This engaging and applied teaching style has earned strong feedback for clarity, enthusiasm, and real-world relevance.
Previously, CJ served as a Director of Performance and Community Engagement, where he expanded collegiate athlete training initiatives from two teams at one university to more than 20 athletic programs across multiple universities. During this time, he developed scalable training systems, elevated coach education through workshops and internships, and strengthened athlete buy-in through a culture rooted in trust, accountability, and consistency.
CJ’s professional background also includes strength and conditioning roles with Robert Morris University, Youngstown State University, Morehead State University, Ohio State Football, Slippery Rock University and within the New York Mets organization. Across these environments, he collaborated closely with sport coaches and medical staff, supported athletes through return-to-play processes, and utilized performance testing and data to drive sustainable performance outcomes.
CJ holds a Master of Arts in Wellness Promotion from Morehead State and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Slippery Rock. CJ is committed to developing strong, resilient student-athletes and fostering a culture where performance excellence and academic growth go hand in hand.
“I am excited to lead a strength and conditioning department built by the athletes, for the athletes, that is more than a training space, it’s a community. At Chatham, we’re building from the ground up with purpose, guided by the science, driven by student leadership, and rooted in our community. This is where Exercise Science meets real-world impact, where performance and education unite to serve not only our teams, but also our neighborhood. Together, we’re creating a culture of strength, service, and shared success. I can’t thank the Athletic department and Ex Sci department for the fantastic opportunity."
