Tyler is a native of Carman, Manitoba, Canada. He spent the past two years playing at the professional level in the ECHL and in Sweden.
Tyler played his college hockey at Colgate University where he was voted to serve as Assistant Captain in his senior year. He was honored as a two-time Dean's award with Distinction, two-time ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team, and two time AHCA/Krampade Academic All-Star.
Prior to attending Colgate, Tyler spent two seasons with the Minot Minotauros of the NAHL and two seasons with the Portage Terriers of the MJHL. Tyler was named Assistant Captain during his second year with the Minotauros and was a recipient of the 2017 NAHL (Central) Community Service Award, two-time Minot Minotauros Humanitarian Award, and 2016-17 Unsung Hero Award.
In 2014-15 he was a member of the Portage Terriers team that won the MJHL Turnbull Cup and went on to win the RBC Cup National Junior A Championship. Tyler was named the MJHL Rookie of the Year and to the Rookie All-Star Team in 2013-14.
Tyler and his girlfriend Taylor reside in Pittsburgh, PA.
