PITTSBURGH, Pa. – On Tuesday, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) released its All-Region selections for the 2026 Baseball season. 

Chatham pitcher Matt Bamford was an All-Region Third Team selection for Region 7, becoming the first player in program history to earn All-Region Honors.

Bamford, an All-PAC First Team member, wrapped up the 2026 season with a 9-3 record, including 2 complete games, pitching to a 3.88 ERA over 69.2 innings and recording 94 strikeouts, which led the PAC, surpassing the 100-career-strikeout milestone in the process. His 9 wins are a single-season best in Cougars history. The Belle Vernon, PA native wrapped up his career in the purple and grey on a high note, leading the Cougars to victory on day 2 of the PAC Tournament, pitching a complete game while striking out 12. Bamford ends his career as one of the most decorated pitchers in program history, setting the program record for career wins (11) and career strikeouts (144).
