Men's Volleyball Gets Win over Wolverines in Tri-Match

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Chatham Men's Volleyball (9-6, 3-2 PAC) split their two matches this afternoon. The Cougars came from behind to defeat Grove City (8-11, 1-4) 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-18). Chatham then fell in their second match of the day to nonconference opponent Nazareth (10-10, 0-2 UVC) by the same tally (23-25, 29-27, 25-19, 25-16).
 
In the Cougars' win in the first match of the day, Tim McCabe was the leader in kills with 16 on .345 hitting. The junior also recorded 2 aces, 2 blocks and 3 digs. Ben Shelestak had 13 kills, 8 digs, 3 blocks and an ace against the Wolverines. Derek Paul also reached double digits in kills with 10 and racked up 7 digs. RJ Nagg assisted on 41 Chatham kills. Jordan Haas contributed 4 blocks and 4 kills, and John Gasiorowski paced the team in digs with 9.
 
The Golden Flyers were led by Ryan Murphy, who finished with 14 kills and 3 aces on. 524 hitting in match two. Sean Frawley had 13 kills and 7 digs for Nazareth. A.J. Burda contributed a match-high 3 aces, 4 blocks and 38 assists, and Quinton Chiles recorded 11 kills in the comeback win for the Golden Flyers.
 
McCabe topped the Cougars in the kill department in their second match as well with 12 and 8 digs. Paul also reached double digits in kills with 11. Haas led Chatham in blocks with 3, and Nagg dished out another 30 assists.
 
With only PAC games remaining on the schedule, Men's Volleyball will take on Geneva on Thursday at the Athletic and Fitness Center, with first serve scheduled for 7 p.m.
