Softball Drops Doubleheader Games Against Titans

NEW WILMINGTON, PA - It would be an 0-2 day for the Chatham Softball team (5-13, 1-3 PAC) as they would be defeated by the Westminster Titans (9-5, 4-0 PAC) 3-0 in both games. 

It would be a game determined by a battle on the mound. Senior Victoria Murren would start in the circle and provide a clean sheet for the Cougars through the first four innings. Murren would finish the day with three strikeouts over 4.1 innings and 71 pitches. Sophomore Hannah Uhrinek would take over for the last 1.2 innings as she one strikeout within her 40 pitches. 

As for the Cougars offense, there would be only two opportunities. The first would come in the fourth inning when freshman Madi Gorney hit a double to center field. The second would come in the sixth inning when sophomore Kyla Milne recorded a pinch-hit double of her own.

The Titans would take an early lead in the second game, scoring all three of their runs within the first three innings. Sophomore Josie Underdonk would start on the mound and stay there for 4.0 innings where she recorded one strikeout in her 76 pitches. Freshman Caytlin Redeye would enter the circle in the fifth inning and finish the game out. In the 2.0 innings she pitched, she threw 23 pitches and recorded a strikeout.

As for the swinging bats, Gorney would record another single, senior Chelsea Stabile would have a hit of her own, and Milne would pinch hit and send a single into left field.

The Cougars will be back in action this Saturday, March 28th when they return home to West Field to take on the Bethany Bison at 1PM and 3PM in their next conference matchup.
