PITTSBURGH, PA - It was a long travel day for the Chatham Softball team (5-11, 1-1 PAC) as they headed over the river to take on the La Roche Redhawks (4-10).
In game 1, it would be a comeback for the Cougars at they went down 2-1 at the end of the first inning. Senior
Victoria Murren would hit a single down the left field line allowing freshman
Madi Gorney to earn the lone run for the inning. Murren and Gorney would then be responsible for the run that tied the game as Murren singled to the left field in the 3rd inning. Gorney would take her own turn at swinging the bat as she would be responsible for the Cougars game winning run as she singled to center field allowing fellow freshman
Gaby McTavish to score. Sophomore
Kyla Milne would round out the scoring for the Cougars and finish the game off with a 4-2 win.
There would be a variety of Cougars on the mound today as Murren would pitch for 3.0 innings throwing 40 pitches. She would allow just four hits and two runs while being responsible for three fly outs and five ground outs. Fellow senior
Sheaden Berkson, who would earn the win, would throw 37 pitches of her own as she was in control for 2.1 innings. She would allow just three hits and no runs while helping with four fly outs and two ground outs. Sophomore
Hannah Uhrinek would earn the save on the day as she threw 12 pitches in just 1.2 innings. She allowed no hits and no runs while striking out one batter and contributing once fly out and two ground outs.
While the Cougars were able to find themselves on top in game 1, game 2 would not fall in the Cougars favor as they would be defeated 4-3. The Cougars offense would be led by McTavish scoring off of a sacrifice fly out from fellow freshman

On the mound this time around would be sophomore
Josie Underdonk and Berkson again. Underdonk would throw 54 pitches over 3.2 innings allowing five hits and four runs. She would execute one strikeout, two fly outs, and eight ground outs. As for Berkson, she would only throw 13 pitches allowing just one hit but being responsible for two ground outs.
The Cougars look ahead to their next matchup this Wednesday, March 25th, when they head to New Wilmington, PA to take on the Westminster Titans for another PAC doubleheader with first pitches set to take place at 3:30PM and 5:30PM.
