Cougars Sweep Series With Hawks

Pittsburgh, PA – Chatham Women's Hockey (3-15-2, 2-8-0) took on Hilbert (1-18-1, 0-9-0) in game two of their home-and-home conference series. The Cougars won big 7-1, sweeping the season series. 

The Cougars picked up right where they left off, jumping out to an early lead in the first period of play. Klara Miuller continued racking up the points after she scored her 9th goal of the season, set up by Isabella Allsopp, putting the Cougars up 1-0, four and a half minutes into the game. In the final minutes of the frame, Miuller would add another goal, assisted by Allsopp again, making it 2-0. This was Miuller's third multi-goal game of the season. 

The Cougars would add to their lead in the second period. At the 11:33 mark, Chelsea Clark netted her 4th goal of the season, from a crisp pass by Liv McTavish. Keeping the pressure on, the Cougars kept the offensive onslaught going. Allsopp picked up her third point of the night, scoring her 4th goal of the season, making it 4-0. The goal was assisted by Miuller and Hailey Braaten. A minute and a half later, Annabel Lota picked up her 1st goal of the season, finishing a beautiful passing play by Abbey Cunkelman and Skyler Grogan. The Hawks would make it 5-1 with a minute to go in the period after converting on the power play. 

In the third period, the Cougars kept up the high-scoring pace. Skyler Grogan found the back of the net for her 1st career goal. Allsopp and Cunkelman added assists on the goal. At 14:18, Miuller would complete the hat trick, her second of the season, assisted by linemate Allsopp, to clinch the 7-1 victory. 

Isabella Allsopp led the way offensively, setting a new career high with 5 points consisting of 1 goal and 4 assists. Klara Miuller added 1 assist to her 3 goals, and Skyler Grogan picked up the first multi-point goal game of her career. Abbey Cunkelman and Liv McTavish also picked up 2 assists each. In goal, Samantha Brophy earned the win, making 15 saves and finishing with a .938 save percentage. 

Up next for Women's Hockey is a road series with Elmira on Friday, February 15. Puck drop is slated for 7 pm.
