Elmira, NY – On Friday, Chatham Women's Hockey (3-16-2, 2-9-0) hit the road for a conference matchup with (RV) Elmira (14-5-2, 8-2-1). The Cougars fell to the Soaring Eagles by a score of 6-0.
The Soaring Eagles quickly jumped out to a 1-0 scoring three and a half minutes into the opening frame. The teams would trade chances as the Cougars entered the first intermission trailing by one.
In the second period, the game would open up, as the Soaring Eagles grew their lead. Elmira would score four unanswered to make it 5-0. In the third period, Elmira added another goal short-handed to put the game out of reach.
Six different Cougars recorded a block, with Emery Gelinas leading with a game-high 3 blocks herself. Offensively, Isabella Allsopp recorded 3 shots with a number of scoring opportunities.
Women's Hockey faces off with Elmira in game two of their series tomorrow, Saturday, February 14th. The game is scheduled for a 3 pm puck drop
