HIRAM, Ohio – Chatham Men's Volleyball (7-4, 1-1 PAC) was ousted in a tight contest at Hiram (5-3, 2-0) on Friday night by a final score of 3-2 (11-25, 25-17, 25-22, 20-25, 17-15).

Derek Chiang led the way for the Terriers with 16 kills and a game-high 8 blocks. Darren Chiang contributed 5 kills with an .833 hitting percentage, 37 assists, and 11 digs. Colin Brooks tallied 5 kills, 6 blocks, and a game-high 3 aces, and Kekoa Tani had 10 kills and 8 digs for Hiram.

Tim McCabe paced the Cougars with 22 kills while hitting at a .405 clip and had 2 aces, 4 blocks and 4 digs. First year
Derek Kintzer recorded 9 kills and hit .400 for the match. First year
Armani George racked up 8 kills and blocked 6 Terrier attacks. Sophomore
RJ Nagg dished out a season-high 52 assists with an ace, and Junior
Ben Shelestak tallied a team-high 10 digs for Chatham.

In the first set, a couple of kills by George helped the Cougars win 10 of 11 points and a 17-9 lead. Chatham would then use two aces and a kill from McCabe to take the final 7 points of the set and a 1-0 advantage. Hiram turned the match around by winning 7 of the second set's first 9 points and evened the match by taking 4 of the final 5. Set three was even throughout, but after a George kill tied the score at 19, the Terriers claimed 6 of the next 9 points and the match lead. The Cougars trailed 10-7 in the fourth set, but with the score tied at 18, they used kills from George, Shelestak, and McCabe to send the match to a fifth set with a 7-2 scoring run. Chatham won the first 4 points of set five, but Hiram won 6 consecutive points later in the set and had timely kills to eke out the victory.

The Cougars held a 60-50 edge in kills over the Terriers in the match. Chatham attacked at a .256 clip, while Hiram had a .197 hitting percentage.
