PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Chatham Men's Volleyball (6-3, 0-0 PAC) took down Carlow (0-12, 0-2 AMCC) in straight sets (25-11, 25-21, 25-13) for the second time this season on Wednesday night.
Sophomore
Andrew Shepard recorded a match-high 6 kills and 6 digs with an ace for the Cougars. First year
Derek Kintzer tallied 5 kills for Chatham. Junior
Tim McCabe racked up 4 kills with an .800 hitting percentage and an ace in one set. Sophomore
Josh Roncallo had 4 kills, 2 aces and 2 blocks for the Cougars. First year
Evan Barrick finished with a match-high 8 digs, and senior
Alex Moncello dished out a match-high 9 assists.
Chatham led 7-5 in the first set before two kills and an ace from McCabe helped the Cougars win 10 of the next 11 points. Kills by Paul and McCabe would put Chatham up 23-8, and another McCabe kill wrapped up the set. Four
Andrew Shepard kills in the second set gave the Cougars an 18-14 advantage. Then kills by
Alex Weiss, Kintzer, and Roncallo pushed Chatham to a 2-0 lead with a 4-point set win. Back-to-back aces by Roncallo gave the Cougars a 10-5 lead in the third set. Shepard's ace gave Chatham a 16-9 advantage, and his kill closed out the Cougars' sweep.
Chatham had a .242 hitting percentage in the match while holding the Celtics to -.056. The Cougars held a 27-15 edge in kills and led 6-1 in blocks and 7-2 in aces.
Men's Volleyball will travel to Geneva on Saturday for their first PAC matchup, a 1 p.m. tilt in Beaver Falls.
