The first set was a battle, with neither team leading by more than 2 points until the Cougars' 5-0 run that included three Kintzer kills and gave Chatham a set point at 24-19. McCabe's kill following the run gave the Cougars the match lead. A 5-0 run in set two gave Chatham a 13-11 advantage thanks to two aces by Paul. Paul would then provide two kills to put the Cougars up 22-18, and a Kintzer kill helped Chatham close the set. It appeared the Cougars could sweep the match when they led 23-21 in the third set, but the next 4 points were won by the Golden Tornadoes. Geneva had multiple 5-point runs in the fourth set, and led it 19-8 before Chatham closed the gap to 20-17. A 4-point run by the Golden Tornadoes, however, was able to even the match. In the fifth set, McCabe had five clutch kills, and George wrapped up the road win with a kill and a 7-point margin of victory in the final set.

The Cougars hit .242 in the match while holding Geneva to a .138 attack percentage. Chatham held a 66-48 edge in kills across the contest.
