Pittsburgh, PA – Chatham Women's Hockey (1-15-2, 0-8-0) took on St John Fisher (9-9-1, 4-3-1) on senior day. The Cougars fell to the Cardinals by a score of 4-1.
Before puck drop, the members of the class of 2026, including Anabel Lota, Clarissa Hayes, Samantha Brophy, Chelsea Clark, and Liv McTavish, as well as their loved ones, were recognized as part of the senior day festivities.
In the first period, the Cardinals struck first to open the scoring. They took a 1-0 lead at the 10:17 mark of the period. The teams would go scoreless the rest of the first and for the entire second period. Goaltender Samantha Brophy stood tall during this time, making 28 saves alone in the 2nd frame to keep the Cougars in the game.
In the third period, the game would open up more with both teams trading goals. The Cardinals would extend their lead to 2-0 after scoring on the power play at 1:49 of the third period. They would make it 3-0 after another goal at the 6:41 mark. The Cougars would get one back on the power play. Liv McTavish fired one home, her 3rd goal of the season, and the team's leading 9th point. The goal cut the lead to 3-1 and was assisted by Hailey Braaten. The Cardinals added another one later to put the game out of reach.
Clarissa Hayes led the way defensively as she recorded a game-high four blocks. Samantha Brophy finished with a season high 53 saves, good for a .930 save percentage. Liv McTavish led the way offensively, recording one point and 4 shots on goal, tying her with Chelsea Clark and Anabel Lota for the team lead.
The Cougars home stand continues on February 6, where they host Hilbert at the Alpha Ice Complex. The game is scheduled to start at 4 pm.
