Rochester, NY - On Monday, the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) released its weekly awards for the week of January 5th. Among the players recognized were Cougars forwards Nick Cyprian and Kowin Belsterling.
Nick Cyprian was named Co-UCHC Player of the Week after finishing the week with 6 total points and leading the Cougars in two lopsided victories. The Aledo, TX, native kick-started the Cougars' offense in Friday's win over the Terriers, earning a natural hat-trick. In game two, on Saturday, he added another 2 goals and 1 assist to lead the way in another decisive victory. Cyprian's strong weekend was highlighted by becoming the first player in Chatham Men's Hockey history to reach and surpass 100 career points.
Kowin Belsterling was named Co-UCHC Rookie of the Week after totaling 6 points across the weekend series. His impressive weekend started in game one, where he collected 1 goal and 4 assists. His 5 points in a game tie a single-game program record, while his 4 assists set the record for single-game assists. He also added another goal in game two to wrap up his instrumental performance in the Cougars' weekend sweep.
The Cougars return to action on January 16th, where they will face off against Hiram, this time on the road. Puck drop is slated for 1 pm.
