BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Chatham Women's Volleyball (9-2, 4-0 PAC) extended their PAC winning streak to four matches with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-9, 25-21) victory on Saturday night at Geneva (3-14, 0-4).
The two teams battled early to secure the match lead, with the Golden Tornadoes knotting the first set at 11. The Cougars took the next four points and were able to hang on to their advantage to capture the first frame. Chatham used that momentum to jump out to a 7-1 lead in the second set that they would not relinquish. Three aces from
Delaney Schwind helped the Cougars win 10 of the final 11 points of the set. Two
Paige Watson kills put Chatham up 9-4 in set three, and consecutive aces from Schwind gave the Cougars a 14-9 advantage. Chatham would withstand the fight from Geneva, with two
Evelyn White kills helping to close out the sweep.
White recorded a match high 10 kills on a .400 attacking percentage.
Alexia Bowers finished the match with 7 kills and 10 digs. Schwind's 7 total aces were a single-match season high in the PAC, and the first year also dished out a team high 15 assists.
Becca Gesner contributed 3 kills, 3 aces, 3 blocks and 8 digs for the Cougars. Watson had 5 kills and 3 blocks, and
Sierra Ricci racked up 12 digs along with 2 aces. Chatham's 16 aces were their most as a team in a three-set match since Sep. 2, 2023. The Cougars hit .160 for the match while holding the Golden Tornadoes' attack to .010.
Chatham remains on the road on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. match at Washington & Jefferson.
