PITTSBURGH, PA - It was a day to remember for the Chatham women's soccer team (4-3-2, 1-1 PAC) as they defeated PAC opponent Franciscan (1-6-1, 0-1-1 PAC) this afternoon.
The day started off with eight Cougars being recognizing as being the graduating class of 2026. Congratulations to
Payton Massey,
Morgan Walsh,
Halle Marsalis,
Chiara Hutch,
Addison Lloyd,
Ainsley Smith,
Mackenzie Kmonk, and
Brook Gaetani!
As the Cougars headed into their match up with the Lady Barons, they were ready to go and wasted no time taking control of the game. It was senior
Halle Marsalis who would score the first goal 22 minutes into the game. It wouldn't take long for the Cougars to find the back of the net again as sophomore
Carly Hinden would score a header off a corner kick from senior
Addison Lloyd. The Cougars would round out their scoring for a final of 3-0 on the afternoon at the beginning of the second half. Their third goal would come from sophomore
Kaitlyn Valentic.
Sophmore goalkeeper
Kyanni Escudero and the Cougar back line would keep the Lady Barons from scoring and allowed only five shots on goal.
Not only was this afternoon's win special for the graduating class, but it was also special for Head Coach
Betsy Warren. With the win secured today, Warren had also secured her 100th career win as a Cougar!
The Cougars will hit the road next Wednesday, October 1st, as they head up to Greenville, PA to take on the Thiel Tomcats at 5 PM.
