Women's Soccer Blows Past Thiel

GREENVILLE, PA - It was a fun road trip for the Chatham women's soccer team (5-3-2, 2-1 PAC) this evening as they dropped the hammer on the Thiel Tomcats (0-8, 0-2 PAC) in a 7-2 win.

It would take the Cougars absolutely no time at all to set the Tomcats back and wouldn't stop the whole night as they had 32 shots on goal.

Four minutes in, sophomore Sarah Vescio would open the scoring. After Vescio's first goal, the flood gates would open as sophomore Elizabeth Gallup would follow with two goals of her own, senior Halle Marsalis would add one to the board, and Vescio would round out the half with one more. Making the score 5-0 at the end of the half.

The Cougars back line and sophomore goalkeeper Kyanni Escudero were under no distress and they held Thiel to zero shots on goal in the first half.

Thiel would start to fight back in the second half as they were the first to open the scoring this time. Graduate student Kelli Hogarty would help the Cougars to respond as she found the back of the net. The Tomcats would find the back of the net one final time, but Marsalis wouldn't let them have the last goal as she found herself on the board one final time for the Cougars.

Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Boor would make one save in the second half to close out the game.

The Cougars will be on the road again this Saturday, October 4th, when they head to Bethany, W.V. to take on the Bethany Bison at 12 PM.
