PITTSBURGH – On Wednesday, Chatham Head Swimming & Diving Coach
James Koval departed the program, Chatham Vice President of Athletics and Recreation
Leonard Trevino announced. Koval will become the new head coach at Washington College in Maryland.
"We would like to thank Coach Koval for all that he did for our Swimming and Diving programs over the past two seasons, and we wish him the best as he moves forward," shared Trevino. "We will immediately begin a nationwide search for a new head coach to continue the upward trajectory of our programs."
Koval guided the Cougars to their highest finishes at the PAC Championship Meet on both the men's and women's side. This past season, Koval was named the Women's Swimming Coach of the Year for the PAC, guiding
Ali Cowan and
Hannah Uhrinek to PAC Diver of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, respectively.
In two seasons, Koval oversaw five individual PAC championship wins, six All-PAC selections and two NCAA Regional qualifiers.
A nationwide search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
