The cougars had five individual conference medalists at the first full day of the PAC championships. First, freshman
Alayna Kercher followed up her lifetime best 500 freestyle from the prelim with a 5th place overall finish.
Max Rollins was the only freshman in the men's 50 freestyle championship final, taking 6th in the conference and breaking his own school record in 21.55 seconds. Next, the divers scored huge points for the Cougars, led by senior
Ali Cowan winning the PAC individual title in 3m diving. Ali was followed by sophomore
Carly Sagerser earning silver.
In the men's 1M diving competition,
Xavier Johnston earned the bronze medal with a new school record score of 285.85. Finally the Cougars finished the night with strong 400 medley relay performances, with the women's team of
Carlie McClurg,
Adela Holland,
Hannah Uhrinek, and Kercher taking 5th overall and the men's team of
Cal Hockman,
Brady Gardner,
Caleb Trainum, and Rollins placed sixth. Hockman's 100 backstroke lead off split of 54.22 seconds also broke his own school record, the Cougars third of the night. The Cougars sit in fourth place out of eight schools in the women's meet and in fifth on the men's side after two days of competition.
The Swim Teams continue the PAC Championship on Friday, February 21 for Day Three.
