Rinkers Rule As Cougars Make History in 34-5 Win

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - On Wednesday, the Cougars (11-5, 6-1 PAC) hosted the Franciscan Barons (4-9, 2-5 PAC) for the final home game of the regular season. The Cougars wasted no time showing they are ready for the postseason, breaking multiple records in their bludgeoning of the Barons 34-5.

The Cougars wasted no time scoring first in this game as they scored just 17 seconds into the game on the brotherly connection, Adam Rinker from Ethan Rinker. Ethan Rinker, not to be out done by his little brother, scored back-to-back unassisted goals to give the Cougars a 3-0 lead just four minutes into the game. The scoring continued as the Cougars took a commanding 9-1 lead into the second quarter. That was only an appetizer for the second quarter, where the Cougars scored 12 goals and had a staggering 21-2 lead as the teams broke for halftime. In the second quarter, the Cougars continued their offensive attack in the third quarter finding the back of the net another nine times and held a 30-3 lead at the end of three quarters. In the fourth quarter, the Cougars pulled back on the reins and scored four more goals and won by a final score of 34-5.

In today's game the Cougars improved upon their single season win record, recording their 11th win this season, they Cougars also now have a new longest win streak at five games. The also broke the single game goal record, which was set earlier this season, at 28. The Cougars also have a new high in single season goals with 244, and a new high in total points with 399.

The Cougars were led by Adam and Ethan Rinker who scored five goals a piece, Ethan had two assists and Adam had one. Broden Zumbano and Thomas Whitakereach scored four goals. Luke Iovino scored three goals and assisted on one. The Cougars had six players all score a pair of goals; Liam Rooney and Sean Creeded each also had two assists, Jacob Lubawy, Owen Millar and Paul Freyre all had two goals and one assist while Tyler Laughlin scored two goals. Ben Keller was the final scorer for the Cougars as he added one goal. JR DuBose led the non-goal scorers with two assists, while Devin Traister, Cody Randal and Isaac Joshi all recorded an assist apiece. Randal led the Cougars with 17 ground balls and won 21 of his 24 face offs. Rooney and Jack Neal each had two caused turnovers. Zen Smith got the start in net and was later replaced by Mario Pusateri. The two combined for seven saves and a 58.3% save rate.

The Cougars will wrap up their regular season schedule on Saturday April 26th, when they travel to Bethany, W.V. for an 11 AM start time with the Bison.
