PITTSBURGH, Pa. - On Tuesday, the Cougars (8-6, 6-2 PAC) finished their home regular season as they hosted the Saint Vincent Bearcats (3-12, 1-8 PAC). The Cougars continued their now four game PAC win streak, with a dominant victory coasting to a final score of 19-1.
The Cougars got the scoring going early, scoring three goals in the first two minutes of the game. The scoring continued as the Cougars led the Bearcats 8-1 after the first quarter. The Cougars added three more goals in the second quarter, taking a double digit lead into the break. Coming out of halftime, the Cougars scored five goals in the third quarter and three more in the final quarter. That gave them an easy 19-1 victory. This victory has guaranteed that the Cougars will host a first round PAC playoff game on Tuesday April 29th. The game will be played at 7 PM against a still unknown opponent.
The Cougars were led by
Sam Beall-Dennell who had a team high seven points, three goals and four assists.
Tessa Hueber continued her dominant first season as a Cougar with three goals and three assists.
Bailey Donofrio scored five goals, a game high.
Erin Goodwin added three goals in the game and
Natalie Ondo recorded her second career multi goal game and the first of the season with two goals. Goodwin led the Cougars with five ground balls while Beall-Dennell and Hueber each recorded four.
Avery Redd led the Cougars with three caused turnovers while
Izzy Davanti and
Allison Venanzi each recorded two. Beall-Dennell also became the first player in Cougars' history to break the 300 mark for draw controls. She now has 308 after recording 11 in tonight's game.
The Cougars used their full trio of goalies with
Meghan Cuza-Berry making the start,
Sam Barrett getting the middle of the game and Peyton Subeck closed out the game. The three recorded four saves and had an 80% save rate. The Cougars converted on 9 of 13 clear attempts.
The Cougars will conclude their regular season with a trip to New Wilmington, Pa. for a match up with Westminster at 12 PM.
