GROVE CITY, Pa. - On Wednesday, the Cougars (4-5, 2-2 PAC) continued their conference schedule with a trip to face off with the preseason PAC favorite Grove City Wolverines (6-5, 5-0 PAC). The Cougars fell behind 4-0 and then spent the rest of the game trading goals back and forth. The Cougars fell by a final score of 10-7.
The Cougars started the game and quickly fell behind 4-0 through the first 11 minutes of the game. The Cougars were able to get their first goal of the game with less than a minute left in the first quarter when
Erin Goodwin scored a free position goal. The Wolverines started the second quarter with a pair of goals extending their lead back to 6-1. The Cougars answered back before halftime with a pair of
Tessa Hueber goals, she was assisted by
Sam Beall-Dennell on the first. That made the score 6-3 at halftime with the Wolverines in front. The second half started with the Wolverines taking a four goal lead and the two teams traded goals from that point on. Beall-Dennell scored her first goal of the day to cut the lead to three. After the Wolverines scored again it was
Natalie Ondo scoring on a man advantage assisted by Goodwin. In the fourth quarter, Hueber scored her third goal of the game, once again assisted by Beall-Dennell.
Bailey Donofrio scored the final goal of the game for the Cougars assisted by Beall-Dennell for her third assist of the game.Â
Beall-Dennell recorded her 51st career assist on her first assist of the game which tied Brielle Rapsas' record. When she assisted
Tessa Hueber for the second time, she recorded her 52nd career assist breaking the career assist mark. She added a third assist to push the record to 53. Beall-Dennell is now the career leader in goals, assists, points, ground balls and caused turnovers.
Beall-Dennell led the Cougars with four points, one goal and three assists. Hueber had a team high three goals. Beall-Dennell also led the team in ground balls with five and
Becca Baker led the Cougars with three caused turnovers.
The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday April 9th, when they return home to play Allegheny at 4:30 PM.
