CLEARWATER, Fla. - On Thursday, the Cougars (0-2) played their second of two games on their spring trip to Florida. They matched up with the John Carroll Blue Streaks (5-0), the Blue Streaks jumped out to an early lead in the first half and held off the Cougars through the second half and won by a final score of 11-5.
The Blue Streaks took a two goal lead in the first before the Cougars offense found the back of the net. The Cougars trailed 3-1 after the first quarter. The Blue Streaks' offense hit a new level in the second quarter scoring five goals in the quarter and held an 8-2 lead headed into halftime. The Cougars settled in after halftime outsourcing the Blue Streaks in the third quarter 2-1.Â
The Cougars were led by
Bailey Donofrio who had three goals, all assisted by
Sam Beall-Dennell who had four total assists.
Kaya Miller led the Cougars in ground balls with four and
Sarah Holt led the team with three caused turnovers.
Meghan Cuza-Berry made 14 saves and had a 56% save rate.Â
The Cougars converted on 15 of 25 clear attempts, corralled 22 ground balls and forced seven turnovers.
The Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday March 11th when they will make up their game against Fredonia. The game will be played at 4 PM in Fredonia, N.Y. The game was previously scheduled for February 22nd.
