FREDONIA, N.Y. - On Tuesday, the Cougars (0-3) took on the Fredonia Blue Devils (3-1). The Cougars despite a few early leads were unable to bounce back from a rough third quarter and lost 10-7.
The Cougars opened up a one goal lead three times in the first half, but each time they did, the Blue Devils found an equalizer. The teams went into the half with Fredonia leading 4-3. In the third quarter, the Cougars tied the game at four 1 ½ minutes into the quarter. After that the Blue Devils went on a run offensively and took an 8-4 lead into the final quarter. The Cougars found three goals in the final quarter but it was not enough as the Blue Devils added a pair and won the game 10-7.
The Cougars were led by
Sam Beall-Dennell who scored four goals on the day, her first hat trick of the season. Beall-Dennell,
Syba Ismail and
Avery Redd all had three ground balls which topped the Cougars. Ismail also caused a pair of turnovers.
Meghan Cuza-Berry had 10 saves and a 52.4% save rate. The Cougars were 13 of 15 on clear attempts.
The Cougars will be back in action on Thursday March 13th, when they have their home opener while they host Muskingum.
