Women's Lacrosse Unable to Complete Comeback

PITTSBURGH, PA - On Saturday the Cougars (4-4, 1-1 PAC) took the field looking for a program record fifth consecutive win as the Washington and Jefferson Presidents (4-4, 2-1 PAC) traveled to Pittsburgh. After a slow start, the Cougars came roaring back late in the game but fell short 16-13.

The Cougars struggled early in the game falling behind 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Cougars scored the first three goals of the second quarter cutting the Presidents lead to four goals. The teams went back and forth throughout most of the second and third quarters. The Cougars trailed 10-4 at half and 13-8 after the third quarter. The Cougars took over the fourth quarter, scoring five goals. The Cougars cut the lead to two goals with 2 ½ minutes left in the game. The Cougars were unable to score after that and the Presidents scored a late goal, winning 16-13.

The Cougars were led by Tessa Hueber, Kaya Miller and Bailey Donofrio who scored four goals each. Erin Goodwin scored the last Cougar goal and led the team with five assists. Goodwin also led in ground balls with three. Meghan Cuza-Berry made 15 saves in goal for the Cougars.

The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday April 2nd when they travel to Grove City for a 5 PM start.
