CHESTERTOWN, Md. - On Saturday, the Cougars (4-4) traveled to Maryland for their first game after spring break to face off with the Washington Shoremen (6-2). The Cougars fell behind 12-0 nearing the end of third quarter but then rattled off seven consecutive scores but lost by a final score of 14-8.
In the first half the Cougars were held off the board and allowed four goals in each quarter, trailing 8-0 at half. The Shoremen scored four more goals to start the third quarter and had a 12-0 lead when the Cougars finally scored with 1 ½ minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Cougars found a pair of goals at the end of the third quarter to make the score 12-2. In the fourth quarter, the Cougars offense shined scoring six goals, the Shoremen added a pair of late goals to make the final score 14-8.
The Cougars were led by
Ethan Rinker and
Liam Rooney who scored a pair of goals each.
Jacob Lubawy led the team with three assists.
Jesse Corser-James had seven ground balls, which was the most, and also caused one turnover.
Ethan Joshi caused three turnovers which led the team.
The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday March 22nd, when they travel back to Maryland to face off with Hood College at 12 PM in Fredrick, Md.Â
