WINTER HAVEN FL - The Chatham Softball team got their season underway with their first doubleheader of the Spring Training schedule.
In game one, the Cougars took down Bluffton 8-0. The team collected 4 hits and 4 RBI's leaving 9 on base overall.
Cloe Lopez went 3/2 with 2 doubles 2 RBI's in the Chatham effort with
Irene Martin crossing the plate 2 times with 2 stolen bases.
Victoria Murren collected her first win on the mound for the Cougars with 4 strikeouts and only allowing 1 hit through 3 innings after facing 13 batters. Shaden Berkson stepped in to relieve Murren, pitching 2 innings, facing 7 batters and collecting 2 strikeouts without letting up a hit. In game two, Chatham faced off against Neuman and won 7-4. The Cougars out-hit Neuman 9-2.
Isabelle Griswold led the Cougs with a 2 run homerun, 2 hits and a 1.667 slugging percentage collecting 2 RBI's.
The Cougars are off to a hot start in the 2025 campaign with their next doubleheader being played on March 2 against Debuke and Simmons down in the sunshine state.
