KISSIMMEE FL - The Cougars took on Simmons and Debuque for their second day of spring training.
In game one against Simmons, Chatham fell by a narrow margin of 3-2. The Cougars struggled at the plate, only collecting 4 hits overall with 0 RBI's. Kayleen Garc led the Cougs with a .500 slugging percentage, with
Cloe Lopez and
Anna Borst both finishing the game with a .333 slugging percentage. Chelsea Stab and
Irene Martin both crossed the plate 1 time and
Victoria Murren sat down 5 batters in her 3.1 innings, successfully no-hitting Simmons during her time on the bump, ultimately finishing with a 0.00 ERA. Against Debuque in game two, the Cougars lost 13-8. Chatham put up a fight against the Spartans, almost coming back to tie late in the game.
Irene Martin led the Cougars going 2/3 at the plate with
Victoria Murren and
Kayleen Garcia both collected an RBI each.
The Cougars are back in action on March 3 against Heidelberg and Mount Vernon Nazarene. Start times are 9am and 1:45pm.
