ALTOONA, Pa. – Chatham Men's Volleyball (2-5, 0-0 PAC) battled but ultimately fell just short of a victory on Tuesday night at Penn State Altoona (4-4, 0-0 AMCC), with the match finishing 3-2 (24-26, 26-24, 25-27, 25-18, 15-12).
Lucas Petrones topped the Nittany Lions with 14 kills in the match while adding 2 service aces and 6 digs. Caleb Fries contributed with 12 kills, 3 aces, 13 digs and a game high 4 blocks for Penn State Altoona. Mason Grover aided the Nittany Lion attack with 51 assists and 3 service aces. Jack McKenna also reached double digits in kills, recording 11 for a Nittany Lion attack that finished the match with an impressive .292 hitting percentage.
Benjamin Shelestak was a major factor in keeping this match close for the Cougars, as he finished with a career high 25 kills, the third-most by a PAC player this season. Shelestak also finished with 13 digs and 2 aces.
Logan Pack tallied 16 kills for Chatham.
RJ Nagg assisted on 52 Cougar kills, the third-highest tally in the PAC in 2025, and had 3 aces from the service line.
John Gasiorowski tied a match high with 13 digs, and
Tim McCabe recorded 9 kills, 3 blocks, and 7 digs for Chatham. The Cougars trailed 9-4 in the fifth set before tying it up at 12-12, but dropped the final three points and the match.
Chatham will take on Penn State Behrend in their first home match of 2025 on Friday, Feb. 7 with a 7 p.m. first serve at the Athletic and Fitness Center.
