New Haven, CT - On Friday, the Cougars dropped their conference opener to the Falcons, 5-1. 

In the first, Albertus Magnus came out flying. They opened the scoring five minutes into the game. The Cougars battled back, firing 6 shots on goal, but trailed 1-0 heading into the first intermission. 

The second period was more of the same. Albertus Magnus quickly doubled their lead, 30 seconds into the frame. They added another, this time on the power play, four minutes later. The teams went into the break up 4-0 after they tacked on another goal with seven minutes left in the period. 

The third saw Albertus Magnus tacking on an insurance goal on the power play four and a half minutes into the final frame. The Cougars battled back, scoring their first goal of the game on the power play at the 17:24 mark. The goal was scored by junior Morgan Black, her first of the season, and was assisted by sophomore Sophia Taylor. 

Sophomore Avelyin Higgins led the Cougars in blocks, recording two on the day. Five different Cougars recorded multiple shots on goal. 

The Cougars will be back in action for game two against Albertus Magnus tomorrow, November 16. Puck drop is slated for an early day start at 10:30 am.
