PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Chatham Women's Basketball (2-1, 0-0 PAC) put on both an offensive and defensive clinic on Tuesday night to defeat Carlow (0-2, 0-0 AMCC) 92-28 at Donahue Pavilion.

Maria Barela and
Julia Calvin combined for 18 of the Cougars' first 20 points of the game, and by the 5:47 mark of the first quarter, Chatham already led 20-4. Four Cougars would combine for Chatham's 10 points in the rest of the frame. Barela then knocked down three three-point baskets in the first four minutes of quarter two, and the Cougars' lead ballooned to 48-13 after senior

Alyssa Laukus netted 6 points in the opening three minutes of the second half. Then after leading 57-22, Chatham went on a 35-3 run extending across 15 minutes. The run included a 27-0 stretch between the three minute mark of quarter three and the two minute mark of the fourth. Junior

Barela finished with a game-high 23 points for the Cougars on 8-9 from the field including 5-6 from three-point range. All of the Albuquerque, N.M. native's points were scored in the first half, and she added a game-high 5 assists and a block. Calvin knocked down 3 three-pointers, totaling 9 points and 3 assists for Chatham. Dixon put up 10 points with 2 steals and a block, and Laukus had 8 points on 4-6 shooting, 4 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block on the stat sheet.

The Cougars shot 44.9% from the field while holding the Celtics to 21.1%. Carlow was 0-17 from beyond the arc in the game. This was the first time Chatham held an opponent without a three-point field goal since Washington & Jefferson shot 0-23 from deep on Feb. 22, 2023.
