PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Chatham Women's Volleyball (15-6, 10-3 PAC) defeated Waynesburg (2-22, 0-13) in straight sets (25-11, 25-12, 25-23) for the second time this season on Wednesday night at the Athletic & Fitness Center.
 
The Yellow Jackets kept up with the Cougars early in the opening set, knotting the match at 8 points apiece. That's when Chatham began using spectacular serving to win 15 of the next 16 points, including four aces from Sierra Ricci and one from Delaney Schwind. Another Schwind ace and two Becca Gesner aces helped the Cougars reach a 12-4 advantage in set two, and aces from Ricci, Vanessa Mleczko and Devyn Kelley propelled Chatham to a dominant set victory. Waynesburg did not go out easily in the third set, jumping out to an 11-4 lead until five Mleczko kills helped the Cougars lead 22-19 and eventually win the match.
 
Mleczko tallied a match-high 13 kills on .310 hitting. Sierra Ricci recorded 5 aces for Chatham along with a match-high 20 digs. Evelyn White finished the match with 5 kills on .714 attacking and a match-high 3 blocks. Paige Watson had 7 kills, and Ava Plunkard dished out 14 assists.  The Cougars held a 12-2 edge in aces, and hit .217 as a team while holding the Yellow Jackets to .000.
 
Chatham is back on the road Saturday for a match at Thiel with a 1 p.m. first serve.
