PITTSBURGH, PA - it was another successful night for the Chatham women's soccer (8-3-2, 5-1 PAC) team as it took only one goal for them to defeat Washington & Jefferson (W&J) (4-7-2, 1-3-2 PAC).
It would be senior
Halle Marsalis who gave the Cougars their 1-0 edge over the Presidents tonight. She waited not even one minute into the second half before finding the back of the net. The Cougar back line and sophomore goalkeeper
Kyanni Escudero would then hold the fort down the rest of the night to secure the shut out for tonight.
It wouldn't be the one goal from Marsalis that put the pressure on the Presidents tonight. In addition to her six shots on goal, graduate student
Kelli Hogarty and sophomore
Jorjanne Seaman each had two shots on goal. Sophomores
Elizabeth Gallup,
Kaitlyn Valentic, and
Sarah Vescio, and senior
Ainsley Smith all added a shot on goal of their own.
The Cougar back line only allowed the Presidents four shots on goal, which allowed Escudero to earn four saves on the night.
The Cougars will be back in action next Wednesday, October 15th, when they hit the road to take on the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets at 8 PM.
