PITTSBURGH - Last Friday was Chatham University Night at PNC Park as the Pittsburgh Pirates hosted the Kansas City Royals. Before the game, two Chatham student-athletes were recognized on the field for their respective accomplishments academically and athletically.
Aurielle Brunner received pregame recognition for her stellar season with Women's Basketball and Track & Field. Brunner helped the Cougars win their first ever PAC title in Women's Basketball and finished fourth in the country in steals. Following that, she earned All-America status in the long jump at the DIII Indoor Track & Field National Championships, then finished as an All-American in the triple jump and the heptathlon during the outdoor season. Brunner is now a career five-time All-American.
Sam Beall-Dennell put a special lacrosse touch on the ceremonial first pitch by throwing it using her lacrosse stick. Beall-Dennell finished the 2024 season as a First-Team All-PAC selection and has broken the Chatham Women's Lacrosse career records for goals, points, ground balls, caused turnovers and draw controls. Beall-Dennell also became the first Chatham student to earn the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship, which is given to college sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue research careers in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering.
