ALFRED, N.Y. - Chatham Women's Soccer (2-0-0) picked up their second road win of the weekend with a 1-0 victory over the Alfred State Pioneers (1-1-0) at Pioneer Stadium on Sunday.
Chatham posted six shots, including two on goal, in the first half and accumulated five corner kicks, while Alfred State were held without a shot on goal or a corner. Despite the difference in attack, the two teams went into the halftime break scoreless.
The Cougars kept the pressure on in the second half, racking up another six corners and spending a significant amount of time in the attacking third, however the Pioneers were able to keep the game tied, until
Ava Krepp put one past the goalkeeper in the 86th minute to put Chatham ahead.
Krepp and
Kaitlyn Valentic accounted for all four of the Cougar shots on goal, with two each.
Katie Krecek earned the shutout in goal without having to face a shot on target.
Chatham Women's Soccer is back at UPMC Graham Field for their home opener on Wednesday against Mount Union.
