SANDUSKY, Ohio - Chatham Women's Volleyball was defeated in both games on their first day of competition in the 2024 season. The Cougars fell in straight sets to both Muskingum (25-14, 25-17, 25-13) and Case Western Reserve (25-16, 25-22, 25-12).
Muskingum's Mackenzie Krous led the way with 14 kills in Chatham's first match of the day. Katharine Clayton racked up 21 digs for the Muskies (1-0), who were impressive in their service game, committing just 3 errors while tallying 8 aces.
Zoie Bateman led the Cougars in kills with 8. Defensively,
Sierra Ricci came up with 9 digs for Chatham.
In the Cougars' second match, Kalli Wall was dominant on the attack for Case Western Reserve, registering a game-high 13 kills. Calli Scott contributed 19 assists for the Spartans (2-0), who used a .305 hitting percentage to cruise to the victory.
Zoie Bateman again led Chatham in the kill department, this time recording 10 for the Cougars (0-2). A measly .093Â hitting percentage doomed Chatham in the nightcap.
The Cougars return to action tomorrow at 8 a.m., when they will wrap up the Great Lakes Shoot Out with matches against Heidelberg and Ohio Northern.
