MEADVILLE, Pa. - Softball traveled to Meadville Saturday morning for a doubleheader matchup vs the Allegheny Gators. They were defeated in both games, losing game one 9-1 in six innings and 10-8 in game two.
In game one, Allegheny scored first in the bottom of the third with a double to right center. The Gators got three more in the fifth and five in the sixth to enable the mercy rule and make the game one final 9-1. The Cougars got their lone run in the top of the sixth when Grad

Chatham had five hits, all from five different Cougar hitters.
In game two, it was very different than game one. The Cougars put up two runs in the opening inning. Sophomore
Irene Martin hit a RBI double to center and shortly after, Sophomore
Hannah Chenault hit a sac fly that brought around Martin. The Gators answered with three runs of their own to take an early lead. The Gators scraped one more run across in the second to take a 4-2 lead. The score wouldn't stay that way for long, as Junior
Isabelle Griswold hit a two-run blast to right field to even things up at 4-4. Martin hit an RBI double to right that gave Chatham a 5-4 lead. Allegheny answered once again, scoring two in the fourth and three in the fifth as they led 9-5 thru five innings. The Cougars made it quite interesting when
Irene Martin stayed hot and hit a three-run homerun to center to cut the Gator lead to 9-8 in the sixth. Allegheny got an insurance run in the sixth, and the Cougars were unable to put at least two runs on the board to make the game two final 10-8.
The Cougars had nine hits on eight runs. Martin was 3-4 with five RBI's,
Kyley Fijalkowski was 2-4 with two runs scored, and
Isabelle Griswold was 1-3 with a HR and a walk.
Softball moves to 4-18 (1-7) on the year. They will travel to Oberlin College tomorrow for a double header. Those games are expected to start at 2:00 and 4:00 PM.
