Men's Lacrosse Stomps Bethany on Senior Day

PITTSBURGH - Chatham Men's Lacrosse (6-5, 1-1) rolled to a 24-3 victory over the Bethany Bison (5-7, 0-3) on Saturday at UPMC Graham Field. For Senior Day, Logan Blankenship, Tanner Cindrich, Jett Davis, Isaac Joshi and Riley Lewis were honored before the game.

Junior Ethan Rinker led the Chatham offense with a career-high six goals and added nine ground balls. Freshman Tanner Marsh racked up seven points on four goals and three assists with two ground balls and a caused turnover. Marsh ranks 10th in the PAC with 3.64 points per contest. First year Brady Rigdon tied the program record with five assists on the day and added a goal. Junior Paul Freyre and sophomore Thomas Whitaker each netted two goals with Freyre adding an assist. Junior Dylan Wanichko and freshman Marc Sirolli each tallied their first career goal. First year Noah Delo had six ground balls and was 11-12 on faceoffs, while Brett Zaruba made four saves in 45 minutes to earn the win in goal.

Joshi appropriately kicked the scoring off on Senior Day at 11:24, and then assisted on a goal by Marsh just 25 seconds later. Marsh scored again at 8:38 to help the Cougars end the first quarter with a 4-1 advantage.

Bethany scored the first goal of the second quarter to cut the lead to 4-2, but Marsh responded with his third of the day just 16 seconds later. The Cougars scored three more times in the second quarter, including two from Rinker, and went into the half with an 8-3 lead.

The Chatham offense exploded for nine goals in the third quarter, including four from Rinker and two from Whitaker, and did not allow a Bison goal. The fourth quarter was much of the same as Bethany was held off the scoresheet, and Chatham found the net seven times on seven different goal scorers.

Chatham took an incredible 64 shots to just 19 for Bethany. The Cougars won the faceoff battle 23-7 and collected 56 ground balls to just 23 for the Bison. Bethany scored the only man-up goal of the contest, while Chatham was 0-3 on extra-man opportunities.

Men's Lacrosse is back on Wednesday when they travel to Washington to face W&J.
