MUNHALL, Pa. - Cougars hosted the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets as they were able to make up one of the two postponements from last Saturday. The Yellow Jackets defeated the Cougars 13-2 in eight innings.
Neither team pushed a run across until the third when Waynesburg put up four runs as they took the early lead and didn't look back. The Cougars got on the board in the fourth via a wild pitch, making the score 4-1 in favor of the Yellow Jackets. Waynesburg scored nine runs from the fifth to eighth inning to enable the mercy rule as they led 13-1. The Cougars scored a run in the eighth to make it 13-2, but they were unable to score more runs and it made the final 13-2 in eight innings.
Junior
Carter Beneigh was on the bump for Chatham. Beneigh lasted 4.1 innings, gave up five hits, six runs, six walks, and collected seven strikeouts in the contest. The Cougars were able to score two runs on only one hit. The hit came in the opening frame when Sophomore
Peter Tadic hit a double to left field.
Dalton Lucey went the distance for Waynesburg. Lucey's stat line consisted of: (8 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 7 BB, 3 SO) as he picks up his fifth win on the year to improve to 5-0.
The Cougars fall to 7-11 (0-3). Baseball will have a quick turnaround as they will travel to Washington & Jefferson tomorrow morning for two more PAC games. Those games are slated for 1 & 4 PM.
