MUNHALL, Pa. - On Saturday, Softball wrapped up their 2024 season and celebrated Senior Day. Chatham had three seniors: Grad
Savanna Ahlborn, Grad
Kyley Fijalkowski, and Grad
Mackenzie Wilder. Family and friends got together after a Cougars 3-1 victory in game one to celebrate the accomplishments and future plans of the 2024 senior class. Thiel got the best of the Cougars in game two, winning 2-0 to go back to Greenville with a split versus the Cougars.
In game one, Thiel scored their lone run in the opening frame. From then on, Sophomore
Victoria Murren settled in and kept the Tomcats with zero's in the box score the rest of the way. The Cougars got going in the second when Murren singled up the middle to lead off the inning. Murren would eventually come around to score to even things up at 1-1 after two innings. Chatham took advantage of a Tomcat pitcher Kayla Roddy walk, and later on cashed in a run when Junior
Isabelle Griswold singled up the middle to score Sophomore
Irene Martin. The game would be decided after the fourth when the Cougars got the third and final run. Sophomore
Chelsea Stabile brought home Sophomore
Ciera Jimenez with a single to center to make the score 3-1 in favor of the Cougars.Â
Murren went the distance. In the process, she became the school's all-time strikeout leader after reaching 250 K's. Her eighth win this season and her 143 innings pitched now sits first all time in Chatham Softball history.  Murren's statline: 7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 7 K.Â
The bats: The Cougars collected six hits, all coming from six different Cougar hitters.
Game two was quite the pitcher's dual. Tomcat starter Becca Landis and Cougar starter
Victoria Murren went inning for inning until the Tomcats struck first with the only two runs they'd need i the contest. Landis kept the Chatham bats in check as she scattered just four hits as she went the distance.Â
Murren again was very efficient as she went seven innings. She gave up four hits, two runs, a walk, and five strikeouts. Murren unfortunately was outdualed by Tomcat starter Becca Landis who threw a complete game, scattered four hits, and had seven strikeouts.Â
Two of the Cougar hits came off the bat of leadoff hitter
Kyley Fijalkowski, who ends her Chatham Softball career on a strong note.Â
Softball ends the season at 10-26 (6-14). First year head coach Courtney Orr wraps up her first season at the helm. Orr, who has over 13 recruits for 2025, will look to continue to improve as 2025 will feature a very young, but experienced team.
We would like to congratulate the seniors one last time. Good Luck and congrats to
Savanna Ahlborn,
Mackenzie Wilder, and
Kyley Fijalkowski on your future endeavors! We wish you three the best of luck!
