Baseball Defeats La Roche On The Road

Box Score MCCANDLESS, Pa. - Baseball 15-16 (6-8) had another matchup versus the La Roche Redhawks. This time on the road, as Chatham defeated La Roche for the second time this season by the score of 12-3.

Freshman Nolan Boehm got the start in what was a staff day for the Cougars. Boehm also hit for himself in the lineup as he was a homerun shy of the cycle.

Halfway through the contest, the Cougars led 8-2 and only collected five hits. They took advantage of some miscues and free bases from the Redhawks.

Freshman Ty Blackburn made his first collegiate start at short stop. Blackburn had to move from shortstop to third base after Cougars starting third baseman Senior Jake Bredl got hit by a pitch in the helmet. Senior Benny Dottle received a rare off day but had to enter the game in the first when Bredl got hit.

The Cougars sent out a different lineup than most days. Designated hitter Sophomore Caleb Jones, center fielder Senior Frankie DeLuca, and Benny Dottle got some rest as they weren't in the starting lineup but received playing time.

What's next: Baseball will host the Titans of Westminster College in what will be a crucial double header for both teams who are looking to keep their PAC playoff hopes alive. Those games will be at West Field in Munhall, PA. The doubleheader is expected to start at 4 & 7 PM Saturday evening.
