Softball Drops Final Two Games in Florida

CLERMONT, Fl. - Softball wrapped up their spring break trip Friday evening with a loss to ranked Hiram College by the score of 13-1 and a 6-0 loss to Gordon College.

In game one vs the Terriers, Hiram put a four spot up in the opening inning. The Cougars scored their lone run in the second inning when Grad Savanna Ahlborn scored on a wild pitch. The only inning the Terriers were unable to score in was the third as they scored one run in the fourth, fifth, and sixth inning. They followed that with a five run seventh that made the score 13-1. The Terriers took advantage of the six Cougar errors in the contest.

The Cougars had three hits. Those coming from Grad Kyley Fijalkowski, Junior Isabelle Griswold, and Sophomore Chelsea Stabile.

In game two versus the Fighting Scots, Gordon began the game with a 3-0 lead after two innings. Gordon then added three more insurance runs in the fifth to expand their lead to 6-0. The Cougars were unable to tally a run in the contest as they had three more hits in game two. Again, the defensive miscues haunted the Cougars as they had three errors in the game.

Chatham tallied three hits, which were from Fijalkowski, Ahlborn, and Sophomore Victoria Murren. Sophomore Cailyn Lucas threw two scoreless innings in relief for the Cougars.

Softball leaves Florida with a record of 2-8, as they will prepare for their first home contest versus Carlow University on Tuesday, March 19th.
