CLERMONT, FL. - March 4, 2024 - Cougars were handed the loss Monday afternoon by the Otterbein Cardinals. The final score was 5-1.
Otterbein jumped out to a 1-0 in the opening frame thanks to a sacrifice bunt. Both teams went quiet until the Cardinals pushed three more runs across to stretch the lead to 4-0 in the fourth inning. The Cougars answered with their lone run in the bottom half when Freshman
Sofia Catanzaro doubled to left that brought home
Irene Martin. The Cardinals cashed in one more run in the sixth to make it 5-1.Â
The Cougars were held to seven hits. Sophomore
Ciera Jimenez was 2-3 and
Sofia Catanzaro was 1-3 with a double and RBI.
Victoria Murren threw three innings of one run ball, gave up four hits, three walks, and three strikeouts.Â
Cougars will look to bounce back tomorrow morning in a double header at 10:15 and 12:30 vs Alfred University and Elizabethtown.
