ALTOONA, Pa. - The Cougars were swept in their second match against the Penn State Altoona Lions (12-11, 3-4 AMCC) at Adler Arena.
Freshmen
Tim McCabe (9) and
Benjamin Shelestak (9) tied for a match-high 18 kills. Defensively, McCabe had three blocks, and Shelestak had eight digs.
Senior
Coulter Chaffee led the team with 17 assists while tallying a service ace and two digs. Freshman
Alex Moncello ended the match with five digs.
Chatham trailed all set one before pulling within two near the end (22-24). The set went to the Lions on a service error.
In set two, Penn State Altoona jumped out to an early 8-2 advantage due to multiple errors on Chatham. McCabe's sixth kill ended a 5-0 Cougar's to close the gap to four (19-23). The Lions took the set on a 2-1 scoring advantage to take the 2-0 lead in the match.
To close the match, Chatham struggled to hit (-0.103 for the set, .014 for the match) as Penn State Altoona led by as many as 14. The Lions took the set 25-13 to finish the sweep.
The Cougars will travel to Beaver Falls, Pa. for a trimatch against Hilbert College and Geneva College on April 6.
